How to make a belly dance handkerchief skirt

1.

First fold the fabric in 1/2. Then fold in 1/2 more.

2.

You should have a piece of fabric 4 layers thick. Take a pin pin and pin 6 inch string to the corner of fabric without raw edges. Use the string together with your chalk to mark the semicircle. It will be cut at the waist. (6 inches is for medium size. For plus size use an 8 inch string.)

3.

Cut along the chalk mark, discarded all 4 layers of fabric. When the cloth is opened, it should be shaped like the image below.

4.

Fold under all 4 sides 1/4 inch and press. Then fold all sides at once to 3/4 inch and press. Home leaves 1/4 inch seam allowance.

5.

Now it’s time for the waistband. The circle in the middle of the fabric enters your waistband. Again fold over 1/4 inch, press. Then fold over 1 1/4 inch press. Stitches leave a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Do not sew all the way! Leave an opening large enough to press on your elastic cast the casing you just made.

6.

Measure the waist to calculate how long your elastic needs to be. Pin a safety pin to the end of your elastic band. Using the safety pin as a needle, the elastic band threw the waistband cover. Sew the ends of the elastic together. Loosen the opening on the waistband cover closed. Now add coins, beads and sequence. If you want a fuller look, try making 2 and putting them on an 8-point handkerchief skirt.

Handkerchief skirts are not just for belly dancing. They are nice for the summer, together with a tank top. This pattern is not a brainier. Even if you’ve never done anything before. Try this easy to follow instructions for a beautiful skirt.
