Company history
Samick originally specialized in piano making in South Korea, but began making guitars for export to the United States in the 1960s. In addition to its Asian factories, Samick has a US headquarters in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Greg Bennett Signature Line
Guitar design veteran Greg Bennett created a range of guitars and basses for Samick when the company decided to improve the quality of its instruments. Bennett’s design included the Seymour Duncan pickup for electric guitars and changed the range of woods used to make acoustic guitars.
Current Models
In addition to the wide range of Greg Bennett guitars, Samick has been producing El Torino and the JTR series of electric guitars since 2010. The company gives each JTR model a feminine name, including ‘Flying V’ -shaped Sylvia and the metal guitar Elvira. Samick also produces acoustic guitars, including the George Jones signature Silvertone Getaway.
