Music Career

Elton John’s music career kicked off in the late 1960s when he teamed up with band partner Bernie Taupin to write music for other bands. He released his first album in 1969 entitled ‘Empty Sky. ‘His CD’ Honkey Chateau ‘was the first of his to reach No. 1 in 1972 thanks to the single’ Rocket Man ‘. John went on to have six more number 1 albums in a row and had over 50 top 40 singles including ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Bennie and the Jets’ and’ Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. ‘

Personal life

In a notorious interview with Rolling Stone magazine in the late 1970s, Elton John publicly stated that he was bisexual. This was after years of rumors about his sexual preferences due to his flamboyant style and stage presence. He was going to be completely out of the closet in the 1990s and finally have a civil ceremony with his friend David Furnish in 2005. During his early career, John was also about drug problems, but he was cleaned in the early 1990s.


Elton John will always be known as one of the greatest musical artists. He has on several occasions collaborated with other musical legends such as John Lennon and Billy Joel. He has performed at Madison Square Garden more than any other artist in history. He collaborated famously with Eminem at the 2001 Grammy Awards and has always encountered rising musical acts. John’s piano-style rock and roll music has inspired an entire generation of artists to recreate their sound and make it their own.


Elton John’s appearance is a big part of his celebrity. In his early days, he often wore oversized glasses with precious stones, candles and sequins. He had matching clothes to boot and a famous space between his two front teeth. Today he is a little heavier than before and can be seen with shaded glasses and a tinted wardrobe.

Movies and Broadway

Along with music, John has influenced movies and Broadway. ‘The Road to El Dorado’ and ‘The Lion King’ both contained several tracks from Elton John. He worked on the tracks exclusively for the films, and when ‘Lion King’ went to Broadway, John was heavily involved in the musical process. John also had his own show on the Las Vegas strip titled ‘Red Piano’. The exhibition lasted for over four years and ended in early 2009.
