How to find a music artist by song title

By | April 6, 2021

1.

Ask if you do not have access to a computer. If you know the song title, you can find people around you who know the artist’s name. Question can not hurt.

2.

Log in to your computer and launch iTunes (if it is installed on your computer). Click on ‘iTunes Store’. In the search field, which is at the top right, enter the song name. You will be presented with all the songs of the same name that are currently available on iTunes. Look for an artist name that looks familiar. If none of them seem familiar, click the ‘Play’ button next to the song titles. This plays a 30-second test clip. Test the songs until you find the song you are thinking of.

3.

Enter the name of the song in a search engine such as Google, Yahoo or Bing and click ‘Search.’ A list of articles related to the song name will be displayed. Inside the articles, the artist’s name is most likely to be stated.

4.

Switch to either RollingStone.com or Billboard.com. These are two different websites that have a great search function for music. Enter the song title in the search window and click on ‘Search’. You will be shown all songs that ever have the same title in addition to the artist names.

You have probably had the experience where you wake up in the morning, and for some reason there is a song in your head. You can sing into the shower, or during breakfast and even on the commute to work. But when you try to come up with the artist name that created the song, you can only draw a plot. Fortunately, if you know the song title, you can find out the name of the artist.
